Joseph C. Muller, MD
Dr. Muller completed his medical
training at the University of South Carolina School of
Medicine and his general surgery residency at the
Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida. He also
completed his fellowship training in Colon and Rectal
Surgery at The Colon & Clinic of Orlando. Dr. Muller has
published and presented various articles on surgical
problems, as noted below. In June of 2006, Dr. Muller
performed what is believed to be the first TEM (Transanal
Endoscopic Microsurgery) done in the state of Indiana.
TEM is a minimally invasive colorectal surgery that does
not involve any incisions on the outside of the body.
The purpose is to remove early cancers and pre-cancerous
growths located deep inside the rectum or lower colon.
As a result of this technology, a number of carefully
selected patients have been able to avoid major
abdominal surgery and the need for a stoma has been
avoided in some cases.
